Synopsis

In Uit het werk van Baruch d'Espinoza, groups of young people read and recite passages from Spinoza's Ethics — not without a certain struggle — across indoor and outdoor settings, both rural and urban, around Amsterdam. The 17th-century metaphysical text is pulled into the present and shared as though it belonged to everyone. Voiced by a range of people whose delivery shifts between the improvised and the geometric, the text's meaning keeps changing shape.
