In Tien gedichten…, actor Donald de Marcas performs ten poems by Hubert K. Poot, a Dutch "farmer poet" of the early 18th century. Poot's verse — baroque and artificial, yet idyllic at once — plays out against countryside scenes not unlike those the poet himself lived in. Marcas's delivery, the theatrical poses he strikes, and the many staged elements that intrude on the landscape give the old texts an unpredictable, often humorous, new life.
