Synopsis

The Barbarian believes he has only a few erections left before he dies. Cursed to a life in a second-hand shop and haunted by a family tragedy, he sets his sights on Marie, an alcoholic special-education teacher. If he has to go, he reckons, he may as well go in good company.

Olivier Godin

Olivier Godin has made a great many films. In 2014 the Cinémathèque québécoise devoted a retrospective to his work. His cinema mixes tones, genres and contradictions. He always works with modest means, in a decidedly hand-made spirit, which does not stop his films from featuring battles, swords, knives and filthy jokes. In short: adventure! His latest film, Oublie pas le gruau, is a children's film for adults, with nasal pyramids ravaged by cocaine, kung fu and an excess of drawings of erect penises. Miraculously, he receives, from time to time, awards and grants.
