Synopsis

AUSLANDSREISE is a 63-minute narrative film shot over the course of a year in Berlin and Potsdam. Returning from a trip to Naples, where she tried to forget her past, Leonie plunges deep into the work of the Italian writer Anna Maria Ortese. She and her friends meet to discuss Ortese's books, The Port of Toledo and The Iguana, revealing the thin line that separates a passion for literature as a way of relating to the world from a way of sublimating one's own demons. Meanwhile Florian, a friend of Leonie's, moves from sublet to sublet, unable to resolve his conflicts with his father or to put down roots in Berlin.
