Helena Lessa is an artist, filmmaker and designer. Her practice has an investigative dimension, moving mainly between video and graphic image. A graduate in Film and Audiovisual (UFF, 2017), she holds a master's in Visual Arts (EBA-UFRJ, 2022) with the project "Rio Carioca: água corrente, rumor", supervised by Tadeu Capistrano, which resulted in the audiovisual installation website "Rio Karioka". She was part of the collective "Osso Osso" (2014–2019), making graphic work and films in various roles. She co-directed and did the art direction and cinematography for the feature "Buraco Negro" (2018), screened at the 17th Mostra do Filme Livre and the Festival Ecrã, and for the short "Roques de Quarto" (2016), awarded at the Edital Elipse and acquired by Canal Brasil. Among other work, she was assistant director and art director on the feature "As Muitas Mortes de Antonio Parreiras" (2025), screened at FID Marseille and DocLisboa. Since 2019 she has helped run groups investigating collaborative creation practices at the intersection of art, cinema and clinical work, at Casa Jangada.
